The Jurassic Park meeting was a lark. Thanks to everyone who came and bantered good-naturedly about a cloned dinosaur theme park…. who says sci-fi can’t be high literature!
The next book we decided on is Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann. Much pill-popping abounds.
Ok so it’s not exactly sci-fi horror or fantasy but it’s a cult calssic and enough people wanted to read it.
So the next meeting will be on 27th May, at 5.30, at Taurus Bar on Canal St.
Thanks to everyone who came to the first meeting of Our Dark Materials. A great time was had by all and a lively discussion of Death at Intervals was most welcome.
The discussion of the book is being continued on our group’s facebook page, so feel free to jump in at any time and join the banter.
The next book we decided to discuss was The Host by Stephanie Meyer but since it is only out in hardback at the moment and not available in libraries we have decided to postpone it for another time.
Instead we will be discussing Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. Feel free to read the sequel The Lost World and watch the films as I’m sure that they will also be discussed.
So the next meeting will be on Wednesday 29th April, 5.30, in Taurus Bar in our cosy snug.
Roar – it will be dino-tastic!

The first meeting is on Wednesday 25th March.
We will be discussing Death at Intervals by Jose Saramago. As it’s our first meeting, and it’s only a few weeks away, we understand if folks don’t get a chance to read the book before the date, still come along and have a chat and a drink, and suggest what we can discuss next month.
The meeting is at 5.30pm onwards at Taurus on Canal Street.
